PROGRAM FEATURES

  1. Visa documents processing, necessary for securing a J-1 visa.

  2. Pre-departure and arrival orientation sessions, designed to ensure that students will be acquainted with the Program requirements, services and expectations as well as prepare them for their summer experience. The orientation sessions shall include, but not be limited to, information concerning:

  • A description of the Program in which the exchange visitor is participating
  • Rules that the exchange visitors are required to follow under the Program
  • Address of ICES as well as the name, phone number and pager number of the Student Advisor
  • A copy of the Program brochure, outlining the regulations relevant to the exchange visitors.
  • Life, customs, travel and entry into the United States
  • Local Community Resources as far as transportation, medical centers, schools, libraries, recreation centers, parks and banks.
  • Information on how to open a bank account and how to use the ATM and checks as well as other information which will assist the participants to prepare for their stay in the United States.
  • DS Form 2019 to assist in obtaining a J-1 visa 
  • Support of ICES and Ices Europe National Offices

FULL-SERVICE APPLICATION INCLUDE :

  • Mandatory interview with the Host Company in the participant’s home country (to be synchronized by cooperator);
  • Job offer containing details of hours, pay, uniforms, etc.
  • Mandatory orientation program with arrival materials within no more than two days of the arrival.
  • Support in applying for a Social Security card, opening a bank account, securing a cell phone, etc.
  • Emergency support for the duration of the program;
  • Medical Insurance

SELF-ARRANGED APPLICATION INCLUDE :

  • Mandatory pre-selection orientation & interview in the participant’s home country.
  • Orientation and materials given to participants before they depart from their home countries.
  • Support in applying for a Social Security card, opening a bank account, securing a cell phone, etc.
